A little “About ME” – My name is Tieghan. I have been reading food blogs since I was 13. I began cooking at the age of 15, soon after my mom had my little sister, Asher. At first my dad and I took turns making dishes but I loved seeing the reactions from my parents and siblings and eventually I took over full-time. The kitchen has since become my domain and I not only make all meals there, but stock it as well. And when I say stock the kitchen I mean it. Five picky brothers, a little sister and two busy parents all make up my family. My little sister has become my official tester and partner in crime. Some of the accidents that happen in the kitchen ARE a crime, but since Asher is only seven, accidents go with the territory. I started throwing around the idea of starting a food blog four years ago, but classes and cooking for my large family got in my way. Then I started to get more serious. Since I was already cooking, why not take pictures and share my experiences and recipes. I came up with the name Half Baked Harvest as a name that expresses the crazy environment in which I cook. Half Baked, symbolizes my family – most of them exactly opposite of me, spontaneous, extreme and always thinking they can cram more than humanly possible into a day. Then there is the word Harvest. Contrary to the first part of the name this word is calming to me. For me the word harvest conjures up visions of delicious wholesome foods; pumpkins, cranberries, squash, crisp apples and freshly baked whole grain breads. Food that has been harvested in Autumn’s splendor, brought in and shared with family in the comfort of a cozy home, well to me, there is not much that is better. You can “like” Half Baked Harvest on Facebook and follow me on Twitter. I can also be seen on Instagram, Pinterest, Serious Eats, Foodgawker, Tastespotting, Dessert Stalking and Tasty Kitchen.
